The Perky Robin

My garden robin is such a positive and perky little bird, and the sight of it darting and bobbing is a very good way of passing the time. It seems to thrive on sunflower seeds, either straight from the bird feeder, the bird table, or from the ground. Earlier in the week I spotted two robins in the garden at the same time, but whether or not they were a potential item was impossible to assess as both sexes look alike; and it was only mid-January as well. But I live in hope that they might pair up if they are male and female.

Last Tuesday, well before dawn, a robin was singing very loudly from my mountain ash tree in the garden. I always think that the robin's song can be quite melancholic depending on one's own mood.
