Wheatfen - a Magical Place

I went to a very magical place last week as recommended by a friend.

Wheatfen, about 6 miles south-east of Norwich, is a shining secret jewel in the crown of the Norfolk Broads. It is a Nature Reserve and an SSI managed by the Ted Ellis Trust. Ted Ellis was a writer, broadcaster and natural history enthusiast who devoted his life to the subject, and in particular to Wheatfen were he lived in a remote cottage for 40 years in 130 acres of woodland and fen.

The reserve is largely reed beds, sallow carr, open fen and the two small broads of Wheatfen and Deep Waters. There is also wet and dry woodland; making it an ideal place to find a very diverse range of flora and fauna. You will not regret your visit! For more information please click on this link.
