Majestic Trees

The beauty of trees is not just in the fresh light-green colour ot their new leaves in the spring or the red, brown, and gold tints of those leaves dying in the autumn. It is also present in the winter when the structure of their bare branches and the overall shape of each different tree is clear to see. On a wintery day when recent snow has coated their branches, or in foggy conditions when a single majestic old tree stands out like a ghostly apparition, the tree becomes a symbol of nature's evolution and survival both for us and as an essential habit for many forms of wildlife. The picture below was taken near a woodland edge, with early morning sunlight just beginning to penetrate some thick freezing fog.
