WOODLAND SNOWDROPS

These snowdrops in my local copse have been more abundant than in previous winters. I find that it is often easier to photograph them in a group like this than individually. Even then it is impossible to get every plant in focus, and being white, the flowers often lose detail without deliberately underexposing them. Some of the best pictures of single snowdrops I have seen are ones where the photographer has positioned the camera at the same level as the plant itself, with the sun coming from behind the plant.

Nikon D600, Nikkor 24-85mm lens, f11 at 1/6oth second, ISO 200, tripod, manual focus, handheld.
