Weather Notes

A very dry April so far

The first 2 weeks of April were very dry and a lot of rain is necessary in the last 2 weeks of the month to make rainfall amounts approach the April 30-year average of 47mm. The wettest day of the period was on the 1st when 2.8mm was recorded here. So far, up till today 22nd., no rain has fallen since the 7th. of the month and the monthly total so far is only 7.5mm. There has been a lot of sunshine but the N-NE wind has made it feel colder than it really is. Day and night-time temperatures have been about average but during the last few days there have been some low temperatures during the night - last night the lowest for the month was recorded at 0.3 deg C. and this necessitated a deicing of the birdbath before the birds could have a drink and a bathe!
