A Very Dry March With Above Average Sunshine

March 2011 was a generally very sunny month, but it contained some very cold nights between the 5th - 8th and the 18th and 19th of the month. On the 8th, the coldest night of the month, a minimum of -6C was recorded which is 8C below the mean minimum for the month, whereas the warmest night was on the 31st at 7.9C which is over 5 degrees higher the average. March was also a very dry month with a total recoded rainfall of only 14.3mm which is nearly 75% less than normal. The wettest day was on the 26th (8.7mm) which also occurred during the sunniest 4th week of the month.
