A Very Dry Spring Ends
19/06/11The extremely dry and warm spring experienced in eastern England has now ended, to be replaced with a wet and unsettled spell of weather. Low pressure areas and the fronts associated with them are queuing up in tho Atlantic to bring more unsettled and cooler conditions to the UK. My garden and the birds, plants, and insects that are part of it, will all benefit from the 14mm of rain that I have recorded over the last 3 days. The average June rainfall for my area is 53.5mm, so another 40mm is needed to reach that average during the next 2 weeks. It may or not be a wet summer, but with climate change now established one has to expect more extreme weather events that make 30-year averages somewhat less reliable.
