The Year 2011 was the 2nd Warmest on Record

December was a very unsettled month with frequent spells of rain, particularly during the second week. Showers of snow and sleet occurred on the 17th and 18th, although amounts were very small. A minimum temperature of -2.3 on the 19th was the lowest of the month. The highest daytime temperature was 14.1C on the 26th which was 7C higher than the than the average for December. On the same day the minimum night-time temperature was no lower than 9.7C which was 7C higher than the average. Total rainfall for the month was 48.0mm which was about 25% down compared with normal for December.

The year 2011 was the second warmest on record and in East Anglia it was the second driest also.
