Weather Notes

A Very Wet and Dull April

April was an extremely wet month and the total recorded rainfall in my garden was well above the norm for the month. It is hard to believe that a hosepipe ban has been in place since April 5th., but we are told that plenty more steady rain is required in East Anglia to top up the underground aquifers as this water takes a long time to percolate through. So 25 days out of the 30 days were wet, or very wet, with the wettest day occurring on the 4th when 10.2mm fell. The total for the month was 81.6mm which is 34mm more than normal. Sunshine was in short supply with only 2 completely sunny days, on the 1st and 30th of the month. The average maximum temperature was 2C above normal at 14.2C and the minimum was about normal at 3.6C.
